What I Got For Christmas Part 16 – Clothes (Socks)

Every year for Christmas I get clothes. In fact, I have learned that I can litterally keep my closet stocked for an entire year with the sheer number of outfits my mom, grandma, and various other relatives get me.

I have come to predict this so much that 3 years ago, I took steps to insure that I could actually get away with never having to goes clothes shopping during the regular year for anything other than shoes and shorts. What were those steps you might ask?

It was simple: Every year I found myself getting t-shirts, pants, sweatshirts, sweaters, dress pants, jeans, boxers, and heck: even jackets, gloves, and hats. 2 things were always missing though: Socks and Underwear. So for the last 3 years, at the top of my Nebraska and Minnesota Christmas lists were “socks” and “underwear”.

So far, every year that I have put them on there, I have gotten them. And every year, I think people think I will be embarrassed when I open up a package of plain white socks or underwear. The truth is, I have become very greatful for it, for generally swapping 2 packages of socks in over the course of a year (I add them into rotation either when a pair goes bad, or when the laundry hasn’t been done and I am in need of a pair) is enough to get the socks and underwear into rotation without needing to buy another package for the entire year. Without this addition to my list, I fear that I may still be attempting to wear underwear from my 8th grade year… OR worse, actually having to shopping for these things!
