Self Deprecating Code

I write a lot of code. Whenever there is an error that I can’t seem to track down, I like to put “trace” elements in place (pretty typical). If those elements are on a server, sometimes I’ll have it email me the message. These messages often say something like:

  • “Your Life Sucks”
  • “Fix It Stupid”
  • “You couldn’t write code if your mama laid the ones and zeros out in front of you.”

The ironic thing about it: the messages only send when the code finally works… Causing me to respond to my self deprecating code using my internal Mr. T voice: “Show’s what you know fool”.
