My Kind of Band

I’m not big on posting media posts, but this is one of those where I felt I just had to share. Enjoy.
1000 People in 3 Hours
November 24th, 2007
There’s a part of me that really wishes I had a website as popular as some of the ones I work on. This morning, one of website I worked for launched a sign-up for a free webinar. They sent out an email about it to their list, and within 3 hours, they had maxed out the registrations at 1000. Over the next 30 minutes, they had already had 50 people sign up on the “overflow” list. Those are impressive numbers for a saturday morning.
There not quite as impressive as the number of people who signed up on engadget yesterday for any of their various give aways… but still… very very impressive from my point of view.
I added twitter to my site. I don’t know how often I will use it (or if I will give up on it after a day or two). It’s nice to be able to update my blog with short quips simply by IMing something to a bot. I wouldn’t want to write full posts using AIM, but this seems to work well for my purposes. I’ll have to find out if there is a way to archive twitter.
I watched Numb3rs for the first time on Friday evening. The reason: Wil Weaton (Weasley Crusher) was on it. Wil, to some degree, puts out the persona of everything I aspire to be. Successful in arts, geekiness, love, and life. I think I’m getting there, although my art is no where near as cool as his writings and television appearances are.
Sometimes I feel I’ve lost my zanniness. I look back at some of my older blog posts and think, “what was I thinking.” Maybe this is all part of growing up. Maybe it’s part of being beaten into submission by society. Maybe I’m hiding some part of me.
Perhaps, I should do something zanny with my day. What better time than a time to do it than on a day that *should* be a holiday.
Stephen Colbert News: Since you can’t get it form Comedy Central
November 19th, 2007
So I have been in pain since the writers strike began. My entire emergency TV lineup for for the 7 to 8pm/10pm to 11pm hour has been in reruns since it began. Without my Colbert, how am I supposed to get my insightful truthiness information on politics?
In any case, it means I have to find news from and about him on my own.
And today I did.
In a strange series of events, it seems that Colbert managed to get in a tie for a government position. In the voting that took place earlier this month nationwide, it seems that 2 position were open on a Williamsburg board. 1 was filled with an incumbent. The other: a 3 way tie of write-in candidates. One of which: Stephen Colbert. Aparently, if people can’t have him for president, they will take him in any government position that they can find for him.
As for me: I will be using him as my default write-in from here on out :-).

And the NASCAR season ends…
November 18th, 2007
Sadly, there was no major drama in the last race of the Nascar season. Jimmy Johnson didn’t blow up, which made him the 2007 Nextel Cup Champion. Jeff Gordon came in second overall for the year (and 4th on the night). Congradulations Jimmy! If I ever wanted anyone to beat Jeff, it would have been you.
So how did our fantasy league finish out?
- Justin Gehring - 24 Wins, 12 Losses
- Jeff Gordan
- Kyle Busch
- Matt Kennesth
- Jamie McMurray (Never Raced)
- Amber Radabaugh - 20 Wins, 16 Losses
- Jimmy Johnson
- Martin Truex Jr.
- Denny Hamlin
- David Gilliland
- John Clappier - 19 Wins, 17 Losses
- Tony Stewart
- Clint Bowyer
- Casey Mears
- Mark Martin
- At some point didn’t you have Juan Pablo?
- Richard Benson - 17 Wins, 19 Losses
- Carl Edwards
- Kevin Harvick
- Greg Biffle
- Brian Vickers
- Matt Prestegord - 14 Wins, 22 Losses (Tied)
- Dale Earnhardt Jr.
- Jeff Burton
- Bobby Labonte
- Dale Jarrett
- Ron Gehring- 14 Wins, 22 Losses (Tied)
- Kurt Busch
- Ryan Newman
- Kasey Kahne
- Elliot Sadler
So yeah, that’s just information for next years battle. We’ll see you all again in February for I believe the 4th annual Nascar Fantasy League…. Maybe next year we’ll put some money on it ;-). (Considering I’ve won 2 years in a row, I feel pretty good about that at the moment).
Now for Fantasy football night… Need some passing touchdowns from New England… Shouldn’t be a problem…
Justin’s Superbowl - Nascar Style
November 18th, 2007
Tomorrow is Justin’s superbowl. Tomorrow is the last race of the Nascar season. What could be better than my two favorite teams duking it out for the championship. It’s a type of year-long drama that you really don’t get in any other sport. It’s something unless you realize everything that has lead up to it, it would have no meaning to you. Things like, Jimmy Johnson winning the last 4 races back to back, or Jeff Gordon playing in the top 10 29 times this season (out of 35 so far). Or, how about Rick Hendrick, their car owner winning over HALF the races in Nascar… It’s domination that can only be compared to team likes the 95-96 Chicago Bulls (who went 72-10 that year… just crazy), or two Nebraska Football in the Tom Osborne era (something like 25 straight bowl games, and no season with more than 3 losses.. just crazy).
That said, you can guess where I will be tomorrow afternoon.
I’ve been working on a few things independent of this blog that have been keeping me busy. I’d say more about them, but non of them are worth even showing at this point. So for now, I go and sleep.
This is a test… A real test…

Ok, but thats what I said. It’s a test.
