Super Mario Strikers

Last Saturday, while having a great evening with Richard and Elizabeth, we took a trip in my new ride to the local Walmart. There we acquired the latest in Nintendo Wii Mario gaming known as Super Mario Strikers. The game came out August 1st and is a sequel to a GameCube game.

The game features Mario and crew playing fast pace soccer. Tons of special moves are woven in, including a pretty cool power shot that you then get to play goalie for with your wiimote. So far, I’ve been having a blast with single player, despite the fact that the AI at the lower levels leaves a lot to be desired.

Where the game really shines though is in it’s online play. Being one of the first of many games to feature the Nintendo Wifi Connection, I was surprised at how finished it was… It gave me joy like the first time I played Tetris DS and Metroid Prime Hunters over wifi. It was a thrill to have someone kick my butt, just to let me know that I need to figure out how to “jump”.

In any case, the game is great, and I suggest to all you Wii owners waiting for Metroid and Smash Bros to come out, that you pick it up and give it a whirl. If you don’t think it’s going to be that good of a game, check out some of these here reviews of it, and why others like yourself, have already picked it up:

Back to unlocking I go…

I don't know how to do that jumps either, so I'm with you on that. I did all the tutorial bits and I don't recall learning that. Thanks for the link.
